Mothers Day Dances- Sage’s last circle

Dear Circle,

This coming May 10th will mark my ten-year anniversary weaving and leading our once-a-month San Francisco Dances of Universal Peace. Holding hands and praying together has been an honor, and led me into a new phase of life and leadership.

I am not sure what is next for me. The constant dedication of parenting our two young children, while the sorrows of our world fall like rain around us is a lot in and of itself. In a trans-racial and Queer family, I have a lot to fight for and protect. I believe we all do, no matter how comfortable a life may be in given moment. I have found that within me, the fight for justice and the quest for God are one and the same.

When I returned to San Francisco as a young adult in 2011 and stepped into the Mentorgarten, I met Perry, former leader of our circle, my ‘Mother of the Dances,’ mentor, and friend. I would like to honor Perry and their husband, our dear lovely Richard, and all of those who carry, nurture and love these practices, who share this trove of treasures with those around them.

For the past year, I have felt I needed more in order to grow and continue. I have been let down by leadership when I thought I would be buoyed up, and I am choosing to step away and lessen the pressure on myself to grow this circle here and now. My hope is to continue leading dances for events and special moments, though at this time I will no longer dedicate myself to a monthly circle. Someone will pick up the key and open the Mentorgarten door to a new beginning when the time is right. For now, for me, it is a closing of this chapter.

Please come and join on this coming Mother’s Day, I’d like to lead all my favorite dances and to have a big circle outside. Special Guests Perry and Richard will be joining us from North Carolina. Let us honor Beltane, the International Day of Workers, the height of Spring and call for freedom from bondage for all those who are suffering. Being with our grief as well as our gratitude, let us call on Water and Earth to receive our prayers and be part of our healing. Join us with your beloveds on Sunday, May 10th, 12-2pm at 410 Precita Avenue.

With Love,

Sage
